Hello. I can't find anything convincing for this concept. It seems to be a service that involves setting up branches for companies in different locations without a physical office, staff etc.

There's a description of sorts here and on plenty of other websites:

http://www.cnmadrid.es/servicios/domiciliacion-de-sociedades...

My text is an article that lists some of the activities affected by the 'Ley de Prevención del Blanqueamiento de Capitales y de la Financiación del Terrorismo'. Here's the list:
"Sector financiero, Seguros y Asesores y gestores en finanzas e inversiones, Corredores de Seguros, Actividad de intermediación de préstamos y créditos. Asesores fiscales, Contables externos, Auditores, Abogados. Representantes de Sociedades, Domiciliación de Sociedades…"

Going into UK English please.

Thanks for your help
Simon

@ Simon. Looks like a calque but isn't... http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/d/fin_assetmanagement_091109.p...

With a foreword by Alistair Darling when he was Chancellor.

'As we note above, once financial centres reach critical mass or specific areas of excellence develop, it may be very difficult through regulatory or fiscal changes to reverse previous domiciliation decisions.'

virtual office service Could it be referring to 'virtual offices'? I'm not keen on variants of 'domicile' because they appear mainly in translated material so feel a bit calqued.

agree neilmac : Perfectly good, formal English and not a calque, unless from Latin, like so many English terms.

domicile for corporations/companies

From ProZ glossary by Peterinmadrid.
A quick search on linguee.es gives the same translations and some small variations of this translation.

The wikipedia entry explains "domicile" and its usage.
I must admit it does sound/feel and bit musty though, sort of like "dwelling", which I recently struggled to convince one client wasn't always the best way to render "vivienda"...
