Explanation of what is meant by "Buchten", i.e. individual compartments/pens/enclosures for each litter (Wurf).

Each litter is kept in a separate pen. To minimize the risk of infection, the needle must be changed when moving from one litter to the next, i.e. from one pen/enclosure to the next.

On look at the reference again, I see that my last note was a little misleading. The litters are not necessarily kept strictly separated, but mixed in a controlled manner. In other words, there may be more than one litter in a pen at any one time, so the litter and the pen are not necessarily synonymous. Depending on whether the litters are entirely separate, or whether the pens contain mixed litters, it will be necessary to change the needle either when moving from one litter to the next or when moving from one pen (of mixed litters) to the next.
