Colloquial Dialogue
Greetings,
Well, I'm finding this extraordinarily difficult.
The sentence:
همش ادعا داره که من فلان و بهمانم، ولی وقتی پای عمل به میون میداد، همیشه جا میزنه
Best wishes, and many thanks,
Simon

But I understand now that it means ‘something added’ and perhaps first and foremost refers to theپا added to عمل as a metaphor (استعاره)?
Re اضافه in اضافه استعاری, what does it mean exactly? Nothing to do with the extra kasre between the words, I take it.
You have a single expression here: پای ... به میان آمدن or پای ... را به میان آوردن / کشیدن. The informal way of saying that, as it is in your example, would be 'when it comes to' and you can use any noun in place of عمل, like درس, ورزش, etc. Therefore,
When it comes to doing some exercise
When it comes to studying

This پا is fascinating - what would the closest English equivalent, please?
