molding of plates Explanation: A little more context is required here. Does conformado de placas refer to an earlier noun? In that case, I agree with Jack's suggestion above, that is should me "made up of/comprised of plates". However, if this is a title and refers to the activity of, as you said "como se hacen, o se les da forma", then I would go with molding plates. See examples in links.
