esta expresión significa exactamente lo que tu estas explicando. To move on es ir a otra cosa cuando en lo que estoy no esta bien o no esta resultando.
Change pace significa cambiar la velocidad o urgencia con que estoy haciendo algo sin cambiar lo que estoy haciendo.

Actually, here we say "verbatim", not "ad litteram".... but the answer is no, it's not verbatim-- that would be "change of pace", here......

Though I'm not familiar with the expression in Spanish, I haven't heard it in Mexico, the context given suggests this extremely common English expression, where we suddenly start talking about the weather, or anything before the situation gets any worse
