French term

devoirs préparatoires

Non-PRO French to English Other Education / Pedagogy
This is from a letter of recommendation for a French secondary school leaving (i.e. Bac) student.

Ses 7 devoirs préparatoires au baccaulauréat ont toujours été très sérieux, très bien construits avec une pensée personnelle solide.

Ar these projects? written assignments? coursework?

Discussion

katsy Nov 21, 2012:
agree with Pascale They are written assignments - the rather vague terminology makes it possible to cover in one expression mock exams / tests done in class, and homework
Devoirs de préparation aux examens. These are written assignments.

Merci Verginia
agree Timothy Rake : If this is US English, "preparatory" I think is too abstract. Rather use "written assignments"

pieces of coursework

As you are in the UK, I wonder if readers of your translation will identify more readily with "coursework" which is very much a way of life for A level students!
