До середины XVII века Пречистенка называлась Большой Чертольской. Площадка, на которой сейчас стоит Храм Христа Спасителя, была известна как Чертолье. Всё из-за тихого ручья Черторый – левого притока Москвы (за ним прежде шла крепостная стена Белого города). Речку так прозвали, потому что берега у неё были рваные, корёженные, а русло – чудное, неровное. **«Словно бы чёрт её рыл!»** – причитал простой люд. Так ручей и прозвали – Черторый. Улицу Белого города, которую он пересекал, назвали Чертольской; её продолжение (за стенами Белого города) – Большой Чертольской.
Until the middle of XVII century, Prechistenka was called Big Chertolskaya. The ground, on which now the Cathedral of Christ the Savior stands, was known as Chertolye. All because of a quiet rivulet called Chertory, - the left tributary of Moscow river (a rampart of the Bely Gorod was running behind it before). The river is so nicknamed, because its banks were broken and damaged and the riverbed was strange and uneven. “As if a devil dug it”, lamented the common people.

I think II would use it , just for some special effects.
