German term

Nachteilausgleichen

German to English Social Sciences Human Resources
The phrase refers to benefits (such as discounts and services) for handicapped (disabled) people.

For example, "Wichtiger Hinweis: Rechtsverbindliche Auskunfte zu allen Nachteilsausgleichen können
letztendlich nur die jeweils zuständigen Leistungsträger erteilen."

I have translated it as, "Important Note: Authorized information requests for all forms of compensation can only ultimately be provided by the competent service provider."

I am uncomfortable with the translation of "Nachteilausgleichen" as compensation. I was thinking also perhaps "compensatory benefits". Any thoughts?
Proposed translations (English)
3 compensation for disadvantages

Birgit Gläser Jan 15, 2013:
Rest of the sentence... "can ultimately only be provided by the relevant service provider"

Thanks for the help. I have amended it.
philgoddard Jan 14, 2013:
Matt "Rechtsverbindliche Auskunfte" doesn't mean "authorised information requests". It means "legally binding information".
I think the term was adequately dealt with last time we had it - "benefits", the word you yourself use, would do here.
David Hollywood Jan 14, 2013:
I think "compensatory benefits" might do it

The correct term is Nachteilsausgleich see reference

Example from link below:

''Although the works council cannot force the employer to negotiate a balance of interests, the employer should try to reach an agreement on a balance of interests in order to prevent possible claims of employees to compensation for disadvantages (Nachteilsausgleich)."

Note from asker:
I would also say "compensatory benefits" in this context.
