Perhaps... it would be better if you simply asked him/her/it if there is an English name for his game - I think it's completely impossible for us to discern this for you. Names of games like this tend to protected by intellectual property law.

The client is paying me per word! ie: two words included within 1800 words. It is the name of the game and the title of the 1800 word document I have translated.

I am amazed that you are being asked to translate this name at all. I would expect any manufacturer or promoter of the game to have devised the name in English long before having documents translated. If you are simply translating this "for undertsanding" rather than marketing etc. my inclination would be simply to repeat the Spanish name and to leave it your client to decide what he or she wants to do.

I'm backing out of this conversation. If the client is paying you to coin an official name for this game for the US market, then I don't think Proz colleagues should be proposing translations.

They've just asked me to translate it. I would like to give them different options. I have translated some scripts from the same video game and yes, it is soccer. @phil: You are right regarding World Cup and copyright issues...

Some thoughts You probably can't call it World Cup (not worldcup) because that would raise copyright issues.
Is it obvious from the packaging that it's soccer? And is it set in someone's backyard or (say) a park, or a field with houses in the background?

I agree with Phil that how you translate it depends on the nature of your assignment--if it's to be the official name of the game in the English-speaking market, then of course that's done in close consultation with the client. But if you just need to translate it because it's referred to in some other kind of document, then we can help here. Assuming it's the later, I'll throw out a suggestion below.

It is a soccer video game They've asked me to translate the name. The word potrero, means that it is informal, that the teams probably come from different neighborhoods and it is played on an informal field. Oh, and sorry for the typo, "worldcup".

We need much more context than this. We need to know what the game is about, for starters. Also, I would normally expect the translation of the name to be the subject of lengthy discussion and perhaps even market research, not a question on ProZ.
