German term

Materialrückschub/zurückgeschoben

German to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping Switzerland
"Ein Materialrückschub erfolgt innert 30 Tagen."
"Jede zurückgeschobene Position muss mit der Geräte- Nr. (Fabrikations- oder Chassis-Nummer) identifiziert sein, sodass eine klare Zuordnung zum entsprechenden Gerät problemlos möglich ist."

This is a Swiss Company's literature on handling guarantee repairs to their machines.
I have been translating 'Material' as 'parts'.
I was thinking in terms of something like "restocking", but maybe someone has seen this before.
Proposed translations (English)
3 material/parts return

Richard Stephen (asker) Apr 4, 2013:
Return OK, I am going to use 'return'.
If one of you wants to propose it as an answer, I'll give the points for it.
Steffen was the first, so guess he should have first choice.
Many thanks to all others who participated - particularly to Alison MacG, who did the definitive research.
Alison MacG Apr 3, 2013:
A similar Swiss text using "return" Garantiebestimmungen Ersatzteile (ET)
Warrenty [sic] conditions for spare parts (ET)
Der Versand der Ersatzteile erfolgt auf Kosten des Herstellers, der Rückschub der defekten Teile erfolgt auf Kosten des Eigenhändlers.
Dispatch of the spare parts is carried out at the manufacturer‘s expense; return of the defective parts is carried out at the independent agent‘s expense.

returned goods / repaired goods...? Since it involves guarantee repairs, this (Materialrückschub) refers to returned goods. Each <zürückgeschobene> position would subsequently refer to each position in the system related to the returned delivery. I do not think it has anything to do with restocking.
David Friemann, MA Apr 3, 2013:
in German... there is "Remission" for the act of sending unsold books, and to a lesser extent other goods, back to the manufacturer (e.g. the publishing house). The returned goods are called "Remittende", which some dictionaries give as "return". Even though I am not sure in how far this is used in Swiss German and whether it is even much used outside of the publishing context, I would suggest "return" or "stock return".
Lis Liesicke Apr 3, 2013:
@Steffen, I also was thinking along the line of material/parts return, without being able to provide research evidence (am supposed to be invigilating, not using the computer!)
Steffen Walter Apr 3, 2013:
My first idea ... ... was "return" (although I'm not too familiar with Swiss German). Can anyone confirm?
