middle-aged Explanation: imo -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 mins (2013-04-05 16:08:45 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- on second thought it could possibly be central range of age of those 25-34. Do you only have three age ranges given? 14-24/24-34 and 35-49? since middle-aged would probably be + 50 (or possibly + 40 in some places) |

middle age bands Explanation: "Age-bands" is sometimes hyphenated. If we have 14-24, 25-34, 35-49 and 49+, the "edades centrales" are presumably 25-49, which is certainly not middle aged. They are the age bands in the middle, the central years of employment. Here too, in an OECD report on employment, "edades centrales" means 30-49: "El gráfico 1.2 compara la sensibilidad cíclica de las tasas de paro y de ocupación de los jóvenes (agrupados en tres intervalos quinquenales de edad, que comienzan a los 15 años) con las de los trabajadores adultos de edades centrales (30-49 años)" http://books.google.es/books?id=NhaE1E7n9AMC&pg=PA35&lpg=PA3... "Looking at the results by age, it is teachers in the middle age bands (aged 30-49 years) who were least likely to say that their professional development needs had been met." http://dera.ioe.ac.uk/7535/1/research_survey07rpt1.pdf (p. 22) Though of course the definition of what these bands are can vary: "Patients with the poorest QoL scores were those patients in the middle age bands ranging from 25 to 55y, in contrast to patients <25y, who had higher Z-scores." http://www.endocrine-abstracts.org/ea/0006/ea0006p48.htm |
