Hi,

"l'estérification des bouts de chaînes se déroule en lh à 30°C ;

I have been using "chains" for "chaînes" throughout my doc, (e.g. hydrophobic chains) , but have found "bouts de chaînes" to be translated differently:

e.g.: Fonctionalisés en bouts de chaines= Functionalized through terminal groups (?)

Please help
Thank you

terminal groups

The other answer suggested so far (at the end of the chains) is correct strictly speaking but isn't how chemists normally say it. I'd say
The terminal groups are esterified in 1 h at 30°C
