This looks like a mistake by the author. I can't see any logical meaning in the combination of these two words.
... kanë qenë pa vetëdije dhe shokë dhomë, ku dhe tani gjendën në shërim e sipër.

In Kosovo and Macedonia is mostly used as "shok sobë",
and is a "translation" of the Serbian "šok soba". It doesn't have anything to do with shok in the sense of friend, mate etc.

I would have though it means they ..."shared a hospital room" where they are still recovering.
