handgemachte Musik
German to English
Other
Music
Ab 17.00 Uhr spielt die Country- Band live im Biergarten: abwechslungsreiche, handgemachte Countrymusic sowohl rockige Country-Stücke als auch beliebte und bekannte Titel aus der klassischen Country-Richtung.
I am not sure how to translate handgemachte here?
Any suggestions?
Thank you
Mark

down-to-earth
Hi Mark,
obviously, the literal translation of hand-made doesn't make much sense here, as music from live bands is in any case hand-made.
For a live band playing country and rock music in a Biergarten, "urig" or "bodenständig" comes to mind, for which I suggest: down-to-earth.

honest music
"honest music" springs to mind as one of those buzzwords, maybe also "real" or "pure" (or even a combination of those)
they play real, honest country music
they play real, honest country music

raw (unadulterated) music
I think this is primarily a reference to their craft in playing (traditional) instruments which makes them more appealing to a live audience. Raw, unadulterated music without Schnickschnack.

While I'd stick with the above as a general translation of the concept, I've noticed that it doesn't seem to fit into the actual sentence. Here's my attempt at the whole sentence:
"At 5 pm, the Country Band will take the stage with a rich repertoire of (hot) instrumental playing, rock-infused country as well as crowd pleasers from classic country hits."

Upon Cilian's graceful suggestion, I've translated my previous sentence into English.
"At 5 pm, the Country Band will take the stage in the beer garden with (offering) a rich repertoire of (hot) instrumental sounds, rock-infused country as well as your favorite classic country hits."
Handgemachte Musik = "instrumental sounds +context"
Note that this solution draws additional meaning from the context (rich repertoire of instrumental sounds). The aspect of skilled musicianship is less emphasized here than in the German (in the sentence flow, it sounds better in German than in English) but is still clearly implied.

Thanks. Skills-oriented is technically correct but what sounds good in isolation may not have the same effect in context. Other adjectives sound good but say too little about "handgemacht". That's why I did the whole sentence over (minus beer garden)

Cilian O'Tuama
: "repertoire of instrumental playing"? "crowd pleasers from hits"? Something's very wrong. // So make a useful suggestion in English./// That's better. You're welcome.

That may be a little harsh. I'd just call comments like that useless//Sure thing. Already posted a new version. Changed my mind as I see now that I had clumsily merged two expressions.
