Last question - in relation to VAC Therapy for deep sternal wound infection treatment.
Thanks!

sternum's surface layers of compact bone
... between the sternum's anterior and posterior surface layers of compact bone .... than the available space between these layers
as I understand it, 'sternumbladen' is used in the same sense as 'sternumhelften'
it seems this foam is introduced into the interior of the sternum, where the bone marrow normally would be, between the two layers of compact bone: de sternumbladen / sternumhelften

left half of sternum and right half of the sternum
alternatively, if the sternum was cut longitudinally into halves and there was some space between these two halves and this space was to be filled with foam, they would actually mean the left and the right half of the sternum, which would also be 'bladen', since the sternum is a flattened bone.
In this case you could just use left half of sternum and right half of the sternum
or right and left sternal halves
it seems to me a bit odd and unnecessary to say 'flattened right / left sternal half, or something
Wire is effective at approximating sternal halves, but does not provide rigid fixation. The use of plates is one method that provides the rigid fixation needed to support healing following approximation.

the negative pressure is produced by inhalation
please let me know what the exact situation is

Ik besloot om left half of sternum and right half of the sternum te gebruiken.
Many thanks in advance.
