English term

Switzerland (CH)

Non-PRO English to Hindi Social Sciences Government / Politics Tourism website Country Abbreviations
In this case is there an equivalent in Hindi and, if so, is it to be written as च॰ह॰ or सी॰एच॰ ?

Is it the source/local language to be given priority or the target language?

http://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/आइएसओ_३१६६_-_१ shows the country name in Devanagari but the abbreviation is in Roman script

The Russian version of the ISO website leaves the abbreviation in Roman script and does not use the Cryllic script for the webpage or the country names

Can this be left out from the translation?

Change log

Apr 27, 2013 07:17: Rajan Chopra changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Amar Nath, Lalit Sati, Rajan Chopra

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

BHASHNA GUPTA Apr 27, 2013:
Ashish (HIN,ENG) Nadia (ITA) (asker) Apr 26, 2013:

Officially the Swiss Confederation (Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica, hence its abbreviation CH), is a federal republic consisting of 26 cantons, with Bern as the seat of the federal authorities. The country is situated in western Europe,[note 4] where it is bordered by Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.
