Norwegian term
danseplass

In a text about an expensive motor boat/yacht that I will probably not be buying, there is apparently a "danseplass" on the aft deck. Now I don't think it's a dancefloor because the boat (and others that also feature it) don't appear large enough for a dancefloor. So what is it?
"Danseplass på akterdekket, med overbygget utvendig styreposisjon, senterkabin m/stor sosial U-salong og vendbar co-pilot stol"

party area
You could always generalise it so as to remove the idea of 'dancing'. I agree that a 'dancefloor' on a yacht sounds a bit ambitious!
A 'party area' needn't be very big, and those who want to dance in a 2 square metre area are welcome to if they want :-)

Comment: "An elegant solution that makes the area sound "fun" without it being necessarily that large."

spacious area
I agree that danseplass has little to do with dancing. It also has little to do with partying, and just means that 'if you wanted to have a dance, this could be a place to have it'. You could describe an office area in these terms. So spacious area may be 2013's most boring translation. So be it.

weather deck
They can call it a ball room if they want to, that area is the weather deck of a ship.
