Spanish term or phrase: de forma intercalada
I would welcome some assistance with this phrase.
It relates to measures to ensure women have equal opportunities to stand in elections.

es requisito indispensable para la inscripción de planillas de postulación a cargo de elección popular que se integran en la misma proporción numérica *de forma intercalada* por hombres y mujeres

Target:
it is an essential requisite for the registration of nomination forms for popular elections that they be comprised of equal numerical proportions of men and women ...

The text is from Guatemala and the target is UK English.
In combined form? Do they mean 2 side-by-side lists of men and women perhaps?

It means list having 50% mean + 50% women, with the list in the form of 1 man, then 1 woman, then another man, then another woman, etc.
[Or, of course, starting with 1 woman's name, then a man's, etc. ;-> ]
