May refer to a more depressing place or Kentucky (in the context of Dolly Parton song)

To move to "greener pastures" means better things or situations. It is common, for example, for people who had a period of bad luck to say they have moved on to greener pastures, and this means that things are better now.

"Bluer pastures" could mean the opposite. In English, "blue" represents sadness and depression. Although "bluer pastures" is not an English idiom, my first thought was that a person who moves to "bluer pastures" is dealing with a worse situation than he had previously.

When Googling the term "bluer pastures," however, I came across a Dolly Parton song called Bluer Pastures, and here she is making reference to moving back to Kentucky, which is called the Bluegrass State:

If you read the lyrics, she left the man who loved her to seek "greener pastures." When things didn't work out for her, she decided to go back home to Kentucky (the bluer pastures) and the man she left behind. Although she thinks this is the right decision, it is possible that there is an element of sadness there because of the irony of finding what she needs back home and not elsewhere as she originally thought she would. Another twist to this is that bluegrass is actually green, so she may actually be finding happiness where she once thought there was nothing.

Not sure about the context of the phrase in your translation, but these are some ideas that might help.

Gay couples in [[red-state]] America consider [[bluer pastures]]

At the moment, same-sex marriage is legal in nine states and the District of Columbia. What worries many activists, is that the court will continue to leave the issue to states, making it hard to know when full rights could come to gay citizens who reside in "conservative states".

The couple would like to be legally married but such talk leads to more talk of relocating to the "Pacific Northwest" where same sex marriage is legal in the state of Washington.

She isn’t alone. Many married and unmarried gay couples in [[the reddest of red states]] have championed legislative gains in recent years and eye the Court with hope.

Blue America: The land of the easily offended
Commentators on our country explain our blue-red division in many ways – liberal-conservative; secular-religious; North-South; coasts-heartland; singles-married with children.

while nearly all of the Mountain states are regarded as being conservative "red states", four out of five of the Pacific states (all except Alaska) are clearly counted among [[the liberal "blue states."]]

At the other end of the spectrum, all but two of the worst-performing states are solidly blue (liberal)..

agree Arabic & More : This is another good possibility, depending on the context!

Thanks, Amel. I'm guessing, given the lack of context here.
