Slovak term

terénny sociálny pracovník

Slovak to English Social Sciences Human Resources
Väčšina SK zdrojov uvádza vo svojich prekladoch termín "field social worker".
Obdobne "terénna sociálna práca" sa uvádza ako "field social work" (vrátane EN prekladu slovenského Operačného programu Zamestnanosť a sociálna inklúzia). V iných štátoch existuje napr. Community Outreach Service resp. Community Support workers. Zaujíma ma, či existuje v kontexte EÚ (European Social Fund a pod.) konsenzus pre jednotný anglický výraz.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

just a note here is one for the European Social Fund, also

Hannah Geiger (X) Oct 19, 2013:
In my experience in Canada, clients of an outreach worker are monitored as to progress and there are regular visits. What makes it an outreach is that the mountain comes to Muhammad, not vice versa By the way, the shelter staff are not field workers. Sorry have to go now.
Pavel Slama Oct 19, 2013:
RE Hannah Outreach worker for example visits known spots homeless people congregate at and tells them to come in the shelter to take a shower. The shelter staff are field social workers, I guess. Just one example from the UK.
Pavel Slama Oct 19, 2013:
I apologize for not answering the question. What I meant to say, field social worker is no Czechoslovakism, we use it in the UK too (see eg http://ssrg.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/rpp202/article... ). Not too sure about EU's default term.
Stuart Hoskins Oct 19, 2013:
In answer to your question, no. Eurovoc at http://eurovoc.europa.eu/drupal/?q=request&uri=http://eurovo... and IATE at http://iate.europa.eu/iatediff/SearchByQueryEdit.do both have “sociálny pracovník”, but not “terénny sociálny pracovník”

social work visitor

Similar to 'health visitor'. It doesn't sound too 'posh', but I would use it in the UK.

just trying to show more on the UK and the European Social Fund,
as I strongly believe that it is indeed used on a regular basis

The ESF in Estonia is using the ‘Mobile Youth Work’ socio-pedagogical approach to support at-risk young people. The concept draws on ideas developed in Germany, the USA and the Netherlands going back to the 1920s. It involves individual counselling and outreach work to deal with young people in their own, local environments to foster their social development and self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life.

neutral Pavel Slama : Outreach je specializace; takový terénní pracovník aktivně vyhledává a oslovuje klienty.
