Danish term

Vadehavsmenneske

Danish to English Other Tourism & Travel Hans Adolf Brorson, the hymn writer
Brorson er et "Vadehavsmenneske", dansker og verdensborger.

To write that Brorson is a "Wadden Sea" person… sounds completely off key.

Brorson is a man of the Wadden Sea --- not much better

Brorson is a man of the Wadden Sea marshlands. Omit "The Wadden Sea": Brorson is a man of the marshland(s)?

What say you?
Proposed translations (English)
4 +2 man of the marshes

Thank you for helping. I have elected to not use any of the suggested answers. However, I will give two (2) points to Birgit Sabrin. Thanks again

I do basically agree, however by using a general term for "Vadehav" in stead of the proper name, you loose the distinct progres from local via Denmark to the world. Maybe it would be better to specify the marshes in Southern Jutland?
farmor (asker) Nov 5, 2013:
Marshlands vs. marshes Hi Birgit, you are right that the term "marshes" is what comes up when you check your dictionaries and the Internet. However, I prefer marshlands since "Man of the marshes" sounds too abrupt to my ears. I do many translations related to the Wadden Sea and yes, it is the correct translation for "Vadehavet".

man of the marshes

Wadden Sea sounds VERY odd, though this is what Gyldendal says - not very up to date!
man of the marshes covers the intention
- may want to include "Danish" if this is for foreign publication
Example sentence:

Marshes are defined as wetlands frequently or continually inundated with water
