Spanish term

entradas y salidas

Spanish to English Social Sciences History accounting
I am sure this is easy but I am getting more than a little confused due to the plethora of differnt terms used by XIII century monks!

@Phil Yes, you are totally right.
philgoddard May 31, 2014:
Peter/franglish I notice you're using Roman numerals for centuries. Other European languages do that, but not English.

agree Simon Bruni : OK Phil but it's not just about finding the right meaning, is it? Register is important, too. In this case I don't think the meaning was ever in doubt.

agree Yvonne Gallagher : No, it's just my name in short , "Gallagher" with "y" for Yvonne! But my name in Irish is Gallchóbhair/Gallachóir which means "foreign (gall) "help" (chóbhair/chóir) or can be translated also as "lover of foreigners":-).

incomings and outgoings

I think this has a slightly monkish ring to it!

From the Oxford English:

incomings
revenue; income.

outgoings
one's regular expenditure.

agree Tayssir Azouz : I would go with this solution to maintain context. Good call!

earn revenues/donations and expenses

It is hard to imagine a business type arrangement in such times. Although it may be possible that some of their earnings comes from sales, it is highly probable that any other entry comes from donations, thereby the term indicated.
