Hi everyone! I'm translating a statement by artist Jordi Diez. I'm not quite sure how to phrase this in English. Thanks for your help!

Por tanto, es necesario hallar un arte religioso que responda a la necesidad interior de nuestro tiempo, fruto de la sutil evolución espiritual que continuamente sucede, y que desarrolle una estética acorde igualmente con nuestro tiempo.
Así, el ciclo estético a través de los tiempos que el arte religioso implica no se verá interrumpido, y, sobre todo, las personas de hoy se sentirán en disposición de aproximarse y experimentar en profundidad la enseñanza espiritual que el arte religioso expresa.
En una época como la nuestra, en la que vivimos lo que, según mi opinión, **es una sólo aparente desacralización**, es el deber del arte religioso dar con un lenguaje estético que rompa la indiferencia propia de una población sometida a un bombardeo continuo de imágenes, y quiebre de forma poderosa la inercia mental que suele confundirse con indiferencia espiritual.

I think both of the previous answers have the right idea, but they don't fit with the preceding text. I suggest turning the whole thing round and saying:

In my opinion, the desacralisation of the age in which we live is purely an appearance.

As George says, secularisation is also a possibility.
