primer golpe de la dobladora

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering gas pipeline construction
From a Mexican procedure manual for gas pipeline construction, in the section on pipe bending:

"En tubos que tienen doble junta soldada central, *el primer golpe de la dobladora* en ambos lados de esa junta debe ser a mínimo 0.92 de ella."

Because the type of bending machine being used is not specified I'm unsure what the "golpe" refers to. Suggestions welcome.

I'd maybe go for something like, "the first point upon/at which the doubler acts must be at least 0.92 [?] from both sides of this weld", with reservations over "acts". HTH

Perhaps in that case "(first) point of inflexion" would be appropriate? I know it loses the reference to the bender but the point is obviously to identify the location where the bend begins.

I think you're right, it's what's called the 'point of inflexion' I suppose, where the bender grips the pipe to make the first bend, then it probably moves a few mm along the pipe and performs another unperceivably small bend, and so on....

Yes, you're right. It probably just refers to the point on the pipe where the bend begins, but I don't know if there's a specific term for that.

Actually, the text doesn't specify that the "dobladora" is a machine, but I'd assumed that only machined bending would be used in pipeline construction. But perhaps it is a bending iron? "Golpe" does seem to suggest it. Unfortunately, the bending procedure itself is not described in the text.
