Spanish term

actividad concertada

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Hospital management
Hello. I'm translating a brief report on the performance of a hospital. Does anyone know what this terms refers to in a hospital context?

Actividad concertada (as opposed to 'actividad asistencial'). I heads this list:

Unidad de Lesionados Medulares (ULM)
Ingresos
Estancias
Altas
Estancia media
Sesiones de fisioterapia

Thanks for your help

Simon

I live nearby and CD's right, it's one of those run by the non-taxing paying, publically subventioned church. ;@)

I see Many thanks Charles for your as ever excellent explanation

No it's not It belongs to a religious order:

"El Hospital San Juan de Dios del Aljarafe es un centro perteneciente a la Orden Hospitalaria San Juan de Dios."

That's the point: it's just like a colegio concertado. It's a privately-owned hospital providing public medical services by a concierto with the Junta de Andalucía. It has the JdA logo on its website because it's an approved service provider.

Thanks Charles However, it's a public hospital. http://www.hsjda.es/

In other words it doesn't mean that this hospital has outsourced the activity; it must mean that this hospital is a non-SS hospital providing SS services in this case.

See here, where refers to "intervenciones quirúrgicas en clínicas privadas andaluzas pagadas por el SAS [Servicio Andaluz de Salud".

@Simon It's a bit like a colegio concertado, which is a private school providing public education and being paid for it by the government. This means that a private hospital is providing services for patients under their social security entitlement. The Seguridad Social will be paying the hospital to provide this service. You might say something like "Activity as service provider", maybe. It's a bit similar to this previous question, which I answered:

agree Ray Ables : "concertar un acuerdo" is to "reach an agreement" so I think this might work... maybe contracted activity...

I've listened to Charles' explanation, and I see that he hasn't provided an answer. Would this work?
