Problems with connecting phrases

Not for points German to English Science IT (Information Technology) Computer linguistics
Dear community,

the following sentences should be translated into English:

"Dabei handelt es sich um eine typische Darstellungsform von Korpusanalysetools, bei welcher alle Textbelege angezeigt werden, die das Keyword enthalten. Dieses steht in der Regel im Zentrum und wird typographisch hervorgehoben."

So far I have built the following two versions and I like neither of them, because I don't think the reference is clear (that >the keyword< appears in the center)?! I guess I'm a bit slow today, so maybe someone could help with a better solution...

This is a typical display format of corpus analysis tools, showing all passages which contain the keyword generally appearing in the center and being typographically highlighted.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (3): BrigitteHilgner, Michael Martin, MA, Steffen Walter

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Perfektionistin (asker) Apr 20, 2015:
Thank you Thanks for your translation suggestion and comment.
I just thought that "it" in the second sentence would also refer to "format" (being the subject of the previous sentence)?!
philgoddard Apr 20, 2015:
Your second translation is fine, but your first is incorrect, since it's the keyword, not the passages, which are centred. David: your version of slightly inelegant because it has two sentences beginning with "this".

...usually displays all texts containing the keyword in centered and highlighted fashion

Much of the work is already done. But as Phil pointed out, the remaining problem is to find a smooth transition for the last segment..

"This involves a typical form of representation used by text analysis tools which usually displays all texts containing the keyword in centered and highlighted fashion."
Note from asker:
Thank you two for suggesting another version of the sentence, however, I decided to choose "display format" because that's what I often found in secondary literature. Moreover, I wanted to avoid repeating the word "present" or "represent" (see previous sentence: The results are usually presented as concordances. This is a typical display format of corpus analysis tools ...). Would you still connect the sentences saying "This involves"? I'm always thankful for suggestions how to translate "es handelt sich um". Generally, a good version might be: "This is a typical display format of corpus analysis tools, which shows all passages containing the keyword in centered and highlighted fashion." ? To my German ears "fashion" sounds a bit irritating, but I'm sure a native speaker knows best. ;)
