Russian term
мышечно-реберный ваоик
Russian to English
Medical
Medical (general)
orthopedics
This is pretty clearly a typo of some sort...can anyone tell me what this word ваоик is supposed to be? and from there, what the whole phrase means?
From medical records, in a description of the results of orthopedic tests:
кифоз тотальный, мышечно-реберный ваоик справа, на четвереньках не стоит, на коленях не стоит.

That's what I've found from a brief search.
Simply "rib hump" (I think, it's clear that it's also muscular). See here: http://www.southfloridascoliosiscenter.com/wisfeed.html
Another option is "rib cage deformity" or "rib cage distortion" from here: http://pennstatehershey.adam.com/content.aspx?productId=10&p...
And one more pretty straightforward term used by Russian orthopaedists:
"muscular roller" from here: http://center-ogonek.ru/d/303999/d/dudin_e_r.pdf
The clinical picture of asymmetric enlarged paravertebral muscular-roller is detected on the concave side of the vertebra column front-side curvature.
As I understand this, "валик" is a small hump, but it's a hump nevertheless!

Sorry, I meant "мышечно-РЕБЕРНЫЙ валик" is a small hump.

: From the context, I'd say it sounds like a rib hump, even though it makes little sense in Russian.

Russian term (edited):
мышечно-реберный валик
intercostal muscle swelling
intercostal muscle = межреберная мышца
валик = jargonism for припухлость (swelling)
or maybe something completely different is meant...
