My father said because of plays like that
My father’s a very special person. He would whisper in my ear what the actors were doing, what the scenery looked like, the costumes, the entire play he would whisper to me. You know what the last play we saw together was? “Romeo and Juliet”. It was such a … flop! My father said because of plays like that he envies my blindness.
La mia proposta:
[...] Sai qual è stato l’ultimo spettacolo che abbiamo visto insieme? “Romeo e Giulietta”. È stato proprio un…fiasco! Mio padre disse che era per spettacoli così che invidiava la mia cecità.

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

O "Mio padre disse che spettacoli come quello gli facevano rimpiangere di non essere cieco anche lui", con meno enfasi.
Giusto perché a me suona più naturale di "invidiare la mia cecità".

: disagree with the first one. Mi sembra perfetto "spettacoli come quello gli facevano rimpiangere..." // Siamo d'accordo: infatti non scrivi "è per gente come lui che vorrei non essere nato".

Grazie Françoise, ma il senso di entrambe le soluzioni è lo stesso... Si tratta di una battuta, ovviamente. Se dico "X mi fa rimpiangere di essere nato", solitamente non lo intendo in senso letterale :-)

oppure
"ha detto che invidia/ha confessato di invidiare la mia cecità per colpa/via/a causa di spettacoli come quello"
"Envies" sta al presente, per cui è un discorso che vale tutt'oggi.
Altrimenti avremmo trovato "he said... he envied"...
