[0005] An iOS device, which is a computing device that runs any version of iOS, may require that a device that communicates via a USB connector (an “iOS USB device”), such as a flash drive that implements the disclosed technique to communicate with both USB and iOS devices (an “iOS USB flash drive”), support a Peripheral Protocol in addition to the USB mass storage class protocols. A Peripheral Protocol is a protocol and/or set of commands that enables a peripheral, such as the flash drive, to communicate with an iOS device. For example, an Apple computing device may require that the iOS USB device support both the USB mass storage class protocols, as well as the Peripheral Protocol.
