Discussion

Horst Huber (X) Aug 31, 2015:
Possibly there is something with the same potential for ambiguity, as for instance "taken in"?
TonyTK Aug 24, 2015:
Looking at the URL ... ... posted by Johanna, you'll see that "mitgenommen" occurs multiple times. It appears to be used in the sense of "carried along", "embraced" even.
Kristina Cosumano (X) Aug 24, 2015:
And as it's poetry, it may have double meaning, as in "exhausted" and "led there". As the others have already said, context is everything.
Horst Huber (X) Aug 24, 2015:
Chapeau bas to Johanna, as always. Now if we are really taken up by the "Kraft", we'll end up "mitgenommen" in the other sense of the word?
BrigitteHilgner Aug 24, 2015:
Johanna Timm, PhD Aug 24, 2015:

TonyTK Aug 24, 2015:
"guided", ... ... "taken up"?
BrigitteHilgner Aug 24, 2015:

because we will be guided there

Let me put my poet hat on...

"..Only there, our restless pursuits will come to an end because we will be guided there, safely guided with comforting certainty.."

Unfortunately, I have yet to find an equivalent for "sicher" that can be used twice in the same sentence..

worn out / banged up / beat / pensive

My guesses to get things rolling.
Or in the sense of affected / caught up / stirred
