Thank you for your comments. I see you are having the same 'brainstorming section' I had in my office. What a day! Tom mentioned context that made me change my mind when using 'compliance' and go for what Martin suggested. Mario, on the other hand, came up or back with 'compliance' which is a very 'used' term by this client (corporate language), but regarding this specific job, I am still not sure. For me, the need for 'adequação' sounds like having old equipment and the need for upgrade based on the new regulations.
If not and this is just a general point, I would choose "compliance", since in a more general sense, the purpose of a regulatory standard is always to enforce compliance.
