Portuguese term

objetivando o suprimento da outorga paterna

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Law (general)
I am translating a document about international child abduction; a child was taken to Brazil by its mother against the wishes of the father in Switzerland. At the time of the abduction they were living in a stable union in Switzerland and had joint responsibility for the child. The document says that the mother should have gone to the Swiss authorities *objetivando o suprimento da outorga paterna* in order to remove the child from the country, and I am not sure how best to say this. Thank you

@ Doug, I think you made a confusion between "suprimento" and "supressão". The latter means trying to take away the father's right, which no court in this world would allow without a palusible and very serious reason for that. The former means the mother should have requested the father's consent by means of the Swiss authorities BEFORE she travelled to Brazil, and the text was written after the shit had already hit the fan.

@Mario, it's a tough one this as the word has almost opposite meanings (I'm sure the grammarians have a term for that): supply/provision, as you suggested means the mother must get the father's permission or cancellation of those rights. Let's see what the end solution is. Have a great weekend

"to obtain a substitute for the father's consent"

Suprir a outorga é dar o consentimento em nome de alguém. Quem supre a outorga é o juiz, dentro de uma ação judicial. Assim, o juiz não *manda* o pai consentir, ele próprio, na função de Estado-juiz, consente em nome do pai.
Example sentence:

Cabe ao juiz suprir a outorga, quando um dos cônjuges a denegue sem motivo justo, ou lhe seja impossível concedê-la.

in order to obtain the father's consent/authorization to take the child away from the country

A child may not be taken away from their country of origin without the authorization of both parents.

Georgia, I believe the document states she should have obtained the fathers authorization for the correct purpose, and she's probably being accused of bad faith.

If she took the child away for vacation purposes and never returned, not only she will have to return the child to the father, but she will also be convicted for kidnapping!
Note from asker:
in this case, she asked for and got authorisation to take the child to Brazil ON VACATION, but she had no intention of bringing him back
