I was wondering how you would say this in Chinese? The phrase would be rare in China but not in Canada or the United States where Christmas is a major holiday and all businesses try to profit from it.

: yes, especially the younger generation in China. however, I am sure a lot of those people don't even know it's a religious holiday. so long as it is from the west, young people would jump on the bandwagon to celebrate Christmas.

BINGO!! That was EXACTLY my comment last night when me and my friends were talking about the western influence on Chinese youngsters. I think it is good to be exposed to more things from the outside world but they have to know what they are doing.
