Raptors are apex predators and, as such usually occur in relatively small numbers. They are important sentinels for assessment of the health of biodiversity and the environment. Where raptor populations are healthy, the IAF would support a carefully controlled and demonstrably sustainable harvest of live raptors for the purposes of falconry but sees no justification for the killing of wild raptors.
