konkursboet ikke er begunstiget

Danish to English Other Law (general) bankruptcy
Not sure about the use of begunstiget in this context.

Discussion

Charles Ek May 24, 2016:
Yeah, it's as I thought. The author is essentially refuting an assertion that the bankruptcy estate was unlawfully favored in payments made by some other entity that is now the subject of some claim(s).
phil curry (asker) May 24, 2016:
Ah, now Charles is here... here's the complete context:
phil curry (asker) May 24, 2016:
That sounds about right and is probably good enough for my purpose, Christine, Thanks.
Christine Andersen May 24, 2016:
Without more context, out of the top of my head, I would say ´the bankrupt estate was not a beneficiary´, but maybe it's not that simple.

Proposed translations

the bankruptcy estate is (has not been) favoured/given preferential treatment

This probably has to do with the order of claims by various parties. More context would settle the matter.

E.g.,

It is almost certainly not a simple matter of the estate being the beneficiary of some legal device.

(BrE) There has been no (fraudulent) preference of the company in liquidation (e.g. liquidators)

Question closed, but important to pin down as the boet is a ship bunkering co.

NB it is a co. in insolvent vs. solvent (!) liquidation in BrE terms.
