Discussion

Aleksandrs Belavskis Jul 11, 2016:
Dzimtsarakstu nodaļa would be Registry Office, i.e. denoting the entire office, whereas Reģistracijas nodaļa would be a smaller department within that office, at least that's my understanding.
Natalya Boyce (asker) Jul 11, 2016:
What is the difference between Dzimtsarakstu nodaļa and Reģistracijas nodaļa? In English they are both Registry Office.

Registry Office

Registry Office No.2
Note from asker:
Thank you, Kristine! I thought so, but below in the document it says: dzimtsarakstu nodaļa, which is also Registry Office if translated in English. So, I can't use the same translation for different wordings.

Register Office

Obviously different terms are used in different countries, e.g. - register, registry, registar, but it appears "register" is more commonly used in UK. If distinction needs to be made perhaps "Registry Department" can be used for "dzimtsarakstu nodaļa".
