Robert Carter Sep 21, 2016:
@Neil. But it's also so diverse even among LatAm countries - I thought the same thing as you! Having said that, perhaps the meaning is not so far apart, could it be that "reparto" comes from something like "zona de reparto" i.e. a postal delivery zone, perhaps?

LatAm is a world apart When I saw this query, I instantly assumed it must mean some sort of delivery Company. The lexical differences between Castilian Spanish and its variants never cease to amaze me...
Charles Davis Sep 21, 2016:
reparto "I. 1. m. Ni, Cu. Barrio residencial."

agree Charles Davis : Neighbo(u)rhood. Not suburb (it is not necessarily a suburb) and not locality (it is part of a locality).

agree Adrian MM. (X) : counter-intuitively not a post-revolutionary 'distributional' tag https://www.cubanet.org/articulos/un-barrio-de-ricos/
