Björn Vrooman Oct 2, 2016:
SME = storage management electronics That's what BMW uses here as well:
"ntegrated battery storage management electronics (SME)"
https://m.bmw.uk/bmw/bmw-cars/standard-specifications/standa...

I'm surprised you have no access to some kind of glossary here. BMW should definitely have one.
Björn Vrooman Oct 2, 2016:
@Heidi Did you see this here?
"SME
Storage management electonics"

Of course, it should be "electronics," but it's from an official BMW presentation delivered at a conference held in the US, I assume:
http://www.gaccom.org/fileadmin/ahk_chicago/Dokumente/eMobil...

Here's another official brochure, confirming what Charles thought:
"Integrierte Speicher-Management-Elektronik (SME)"
http://www.bundk.de/sites/default/files/dokumente/bmwi3_prei...

I'm not sure about central control/central command, though. This seems to refer to the battery only.

"a central control unit"

Possibly SME Speicher Management Elektronik (cf. http://www.prologik.de/nützliche-abkürzungen-beim-codieren/) but they don't bother to expand it here and just call it "a central control unit" http://www.aachener-kolloquium.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/02...
"The eight CSCs are connected within the HV battery to a central
control unit, the SME, via an internal CAN. The SME communicates with the vehicle
via another CAN connection. It contains the battery management functions and
activates the relays in the HV battery, as well as a refrigerant valve. "

Yes, I would have thought it could be left as SME, but probably worth explaining it first time round. Up to you Heidi.

You are welcome
Note from asker:
Thanks, Hcarles, especially for the reference. But maybe it should just remain SME then?
Yep that's what I'll do...leave it SME with a note at the beginning. Thanks for the reference!
