A fiction novel set in the USSR in the 1970's. The main character, AAA meets her old university roommate, XXX, and invites her over for tea. XXX used to be a nasty gossip and has not gotten better with age :)

- А ты всё та же язва! – Засмеялась AAA. – Нет. Не погнушаюсь. Держи сумки, я в кондитерский. Тебе торты не противопоказаны? – И она нырнула в водоворот толпы, пристроившись к потоку входящих в магазин.
There are a number of words that mean disdain, disgust and the like, but how do I translate the whole phrase to make it sound casual but not overly slangy? TIA!

Так или нет?

Брезговать можно употребить с тем же успехом и если та, что в брюликах приглашает к себе. Смысл глагола "брезговать" от этого не меняется:
- И не побрезгуешь пригласить меня в свою шикарную квартиру? Такая вся шикарная... И в брюликах...

Sophia, not that I really care, but I just don't think that these two phrases are even that different, meaning-wise. After all, Natalia's idea was right: @буквально, не будет ли это ниже твоего достоинства @, but she couldn't put it into natural English, which I think is perfectly excusable, given that she is not a native English speaker and, - we've got to give her that credit, - is even decent and honest enough not to claim to be one, unlike some other wannabes around here :-) You, on the other hand, as a native speaker, would have been perfectly capable of making Natalia's suggestion (however awkward and unnatural it arguably was) sound perfectly natural without the assistance of the other gentleman. Incidentally, I don't accuse him of outright stealing the answer, but plagiarism is what this appears to be, in my [humble] opinion. That said, I don't mean to question your judgment and all, it's your question of course and you are free to grade whichever answer you deem fit. Good luck!
