Thanks I'm not clear whether it means "advance", as in "early", or "advanced" as in "sophisticated". The fact that it says "ou améliorée en synonyme" suggests maybe the latter, but I'm not sure.

This is in the building of a recycling sorting centre for the City, it was also used here:
La Ville exige une mise en service avancée (ou améliorée en synonyme) des systèmes mécaniques et électriques du bâtiment

It may be the commissioning of a building, given that it's LEED certification, which may be why Hélène doesn't think "implementation" fits here. But I agree that we need the full context.

@ Asker It all depends on the CONTEXT — 'mise en service' is one of those terms whose translation is highly dependent on exactly WHAT it is that is being 'mis en service'? We would use a different word for a nuclear power plant or a photocopier!
