In Spanish-speaking countries, you are licensed as a practitioner of whatever profession you studied. In English-speaking countries, you usually study a major and receive a degree (B.A., B.S.) that allow you to practice a profession. Some fields of study require further certification (i.e., doctor, lawyer, accountant). I prefer to translate diplomas as reflecting the degree and not the licensed profession which really does not exist as such for most majors. |
