English term (edited):
their extended group of friends
Selected
su [amplio] círculo de amistades y conocidos
“Extended group of friends” here has the function of stretching the meaning the definition of “friends.” In other words, some of those attending the party are like not “friends” of the hosts at all, but rather casual acquaintances or even “friends of friends.”
I think that my suggestion captures this intended meaning.

: My first thought: "Círculo" de amigos. People don't generally say "en mi grupo de amigos" sino "en mi círculo...."

gran grupo de amigos/ numerosas amistades
Extended refers to quantity rather than reach, so I believe any equivalent for large referring to this meaning would do.

Similar to other responses. I just think that in Spanish it sounds more natural without the 'group' idea.
Good luck!

: But without “the group idea,” the implicit meaning of the original that the party in question was “big” would be missing.

: sus muchos amigos y conocidos (to me, "extended" means that the group includes close and not so close friends and acquaintances)
