English term

wumpet

English to French Art/Literary Music
Je pense qu'il s'agit d'un instrument de musique, mais je ne trouve pas lequel... Quelqu'un aurait-il une idée svp ? Merci

ACME wumpet
Vivek writing a review about ACME wumpet
It's simply the best wumpet money can buy.
When it comes to wumpets, ACME has the edge.
You might think I'm not the best person to review the wumpet because I'm biased, but really I'm the best reviewer because I know more about this wumpet than anyone else on this page.

OCR again? The only references I see to wumpets are in OCR format, and it really seems to be trumpet . If you see here: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/149190474/
and you scroll down to nearly the end you will find UNREDEEMED Specials - Gui'urs. Wumpets, clarinets, diums. arenr-dions, concertinas e'e.
Starting from there, your text, Asker, might be a humorous reference to this kind of mistake....
Tony M Nov 8, 2017:
@ Asker This sounds like a humorous piece? The use of 'Acme' (usually a jocular generic term for some company, as often seen in cartoons) and the 'funny' word 'wumpet' (sounds like a silly version of a trumpet) which is the sort of word a kid might make up certainly suggests soemthing along those lines, as does the whole tone of the extract you've given us. It remains to be seen from the rest of your context if there is some more serious message behind the obvious humour?
