Come tradurreste "biased-open arm" / "biased-closed arm", o più semplicemente "biased"?

Per capire meglio il contesto in cui si inserisce il termine "arm", vi riporto di seguito due frasi prese dal brevetto che sto traducendo:

- "An electrical switching device is known which utilises a single movable arm having one movable electrical contact thereon movable into engagement with a fixed electrical contact.
