Arabic to English Law/Patents Law (general) Criminal procedure

The following sentence is from Article 227 of Egypt's Code of Criminal procedure. The article relates to the right of defendants (الخصوم here) to call witnesses in their trials.

يحدد الخصوم أسماء الشهود وبياناتهم ووجه الاستدلال بهم، وتقرر المحكمة من ترى لزوم سماع شهادته، وإذا قررت المحكمة عدم لزوم سماع شهادة أي منهم وجب عليها أن تسبب ذلك في حكمها
"Litigants shall specify the names, data, and ??? of the witnesses, and the court shall decide whose testimony needs to be heard. If the court decides that the testimony of any one of them need not be heard, it shall explain why in its ruling."

What does وجه الاسدلال بهم mean here? I wonder if it is something like طريقة استدعائهم?
