@ Asker My guess would be this is referring to exhaust systems with [this item] located at the rear; it doesn't sound to me as if your suggestion in FR really conveys that notion? I don't believe it is (necessarily, at any rate) a 'rear exhaust system' — possibly 'the rear section of the exhaust system incorporates [this item]'
Sorry I can't do any better, this is just brainstorming, and this is not one of my specialist feilds.

So would using the general term of ''système d'échappement arrière'' be too vague? Wouldn't it also suggest that it could also be a cat-back or a filter-back system? Can you suggest a more specific term if you can? Thank you!

@ Asker Right, that's already an enormous help!
And I think it confirms this is N. American EN.
And all these are types of exhaust system referring to the 'back' (presumably 'back-end') — I'm assuming this probably refers to exhaust systems in which the 'cat' and filter' are located at the rear, as well as (unusually, perhaps) the 'downpipe'.

Hi Tony, unfortunately I don't have more context. It is not a text but a list of terms related to the automobile industry. Like I mentioned, the term describes a type of exhaust system.
