Bonjour,

Je traduis actuellement un roman d'heroic fantasy. Je bute sur une formulation.

Le contexte est le suivant : L'héroïne, une métamorphe, "sniffed the air and surveyed her surroundings" pour s'assurer qu'elle est seule avant de se transformer.

Je l'ai traduit par : "Elle huma l'air et elle sonda les alentours pour s'assurer...", mais ma formulation ne me plaît pas. J'en ai cherché d'autre, dont :

- "Elle huma autour d'elle pour s'assurer..."
- "Elle respira l'air autour d'elle pour s'assurer..."
- "Elle leva le nez pour s'assurer olfactivement qu'elle..."
- "Elle sentit l'air autour d'elle pour s'assurer"

Mais aucune ne me convient vraiment. Et quand on cherche une formulation pendant quelques temps, on finit par ne plus rien trouver et par tourner en rond, donc je préfère demander l'avis de mes pairs.

j'aime bien "flairer" qui fait référence au flair animal qui convient ici, je pense.
Personnellement, je laisserais "l'air" mais "elle flaira" seul marche aussi.
