Solicito su ayuda porque no sé cómo traducirlo «hunting of kV». En fluoroscopía, está describiendo los parámetros y en el factor de ganancia para la estabilidad del brillo menciona que si está muy alta causará «hunting of kV». ¿Alguna idea?

Los técnicos desplazan y orientan el receptor de rayos X de modo de obtener la mejor imagen en la pantalla. Eso es lo que llaman "hunting". El término kV está mal usado, porque lo que se busca capturar son los rayos X y no los miles de voltios que los generan.
"The crucial issue for clinical practice is understanding which oblique view is the appropriate one. For that purpose, a simple set of instructions applies. Identify the lamina to which the tip of the needle is related. Imagine the slope of that lamina. Rotate the X-ray beam so that it runs parallel to that slope. Such a set of instructions avoids the confusions that might arise if operators try to learn, or to teach, using terms such as contralateral oblique, posterior oblique, anterior oblique, or ipsilateral oblique. It serves also to avoid practitioners moving the fluoroscope randomly while “hunting” for the correct view. In the correct view, the superior articular processes above and below the lamina will be longitudinally co-aligned with the lamina, and the intervertebral foramen will be open, i.e., not encroached by articular processes (Figure 8)".

Cierto, "hunting" también se refiere a sistemas retroalimentados mal calibrados. Un circuito de compensación automática busca estabilizar el nivel de salida de cierto parámetro (según el contexto, podría ser el voltaje) aumentándolo o reduciéndolo, pero siempre le va en zaga y lo único que produce es una oscilación del valor. Allí podrías decir "estabilización insuficiente/incorrecta/oscilatoria del voltaje (kV)".

kV fluoro-hunting
The overall geometric accuracy of DRRs in comparison to the actual radiographs at various C-arm positions was PDE (mean ± std) = 1.6 ± 1.1 mm. The conventional approach required on average 8.0 ± 4.5 radiographs spent “fluoro hunting” to obtain the desired view. Positioning accuracy improved from 2.6° ± 2.3° (in α) and 4.1° ± 5.1° (in β) in the conventional approach to 1.5° ± 1.3° and 1.8° ± 1.7°, respectively, with the virtual fluoroscopy approach.
