I think the second one fits better in your context.

Some come easy and some you improvise

Yes, you could say that life has it's ups and downs too.
I took a side road and adapted it to the text somewhat.ON 10/15 everything was picture perfect (some come easy) but an unexpected event turned things upside down and now within 13 days 500 k of quinua had to make their magical appearance (improvise/be resourceful and creative).
