If Your Baby is Randomised to Aflibercept
The aflibercept injection
The study drug is given as a single injection in the ****treatment-requiring eye**** (intraocular injection) by an experienced doctor.
If your baby has treatment-requiring ROP in both eyes, aflibercept will generally be injected in both eyes on the same day or, at the doctor’s discretion, injections may take place on different days.
In adults, the efficacy and safety of aflibercept are well known and benefits are greater than risks.
If another injection is needed, aflibercept can be given up to a total of 3 times, with a minimum interval of 28 days between injections.
If there is no benefit the doctor will use a different treatment (laser).
